Bowling

ACE_MentorBowling_2017_05.jpg

Since 2010, Active Community Endowment, Inc. has been taking the children of the Esplanade House, the Chico Fire Department, and the Chico Police Department out for a day of bowling. All the participants and helpers are treated to a pizza lunch. This event is of great importance to the at-risk children, as is the go-cart racing event, as it allows these children to see both the fire and police personnel in a more personal and approachable way. This event has helped with a bond for these departments with the children, as well as with each other.

Go Karts

Go Carts

Since 2011, Active Community Endowment, Inc. has been taking the children of the Esplanade House, the Chico Fire Department, and the Chico Police Department out for a day of go-kart racing at Heart Attack Racing in Chico. All of the racers and helpers are treated to a burger lunch graciously provided by Madison Bear Garden. Often, local professional racers will be in attendance and sometimes will bring their cars to show and share with the kids. This is a great event for the children to get the chance to explore fire and police vehicles, when available.

Chalk in the Park

Chalk in The Park

Starting in 2014, ACE added to its events this colorful festival of chalk in Chico's Downtown Plaza. At-risk children from the area are invited to come to Downtown Chico for breakfast and the chance to express their artistic flair through bright chalk drawings. This event was suspended due to dry conditions/water shortages.
