Active Community Endowment

Enriching the lives of at-risk youths to promote active citizenship.

ACE facilitates enriching events for at-risk youths, including annual bowling and go cart racing. ACE also raises funds for the Chico Fire Department's Adopt-a-Family and the Chico Police Department's Blue Santa programs.

Annual Events

A.C.E. also attends other events, such as hosting children at Chalk in the Park, and a fund raising Casino Night.

Spring Go Carts

Since 2011, Active Community Endowment, Inc. has been taking the children of the Esplanade House, the Chico Fire Department, and the Chico Police Department out for a day of go-cart racing at Heart Attack Racing in Chico. All the racers and helpers are treated to a burger lunch graciously provided by Madison Bear Garden. Often, local professional racers will be in attendance and sometimes will bring their cars to show and share with the kids. This is also a great event for the children to get the chance to explore fire and police vehicles, when available.

Fall Bowling

Since 2010, Active Community Endowment, Inc. has been taking the children of the Esplanade House, the Chico Fire Department, and the Chico Police Department out for a day of bowling. All the participants and helpers are treated to a pizza lunch. This event is of great importance to the at-risk children, as is the go-cart racing event, as it allows these children to see both the fire and police personnel in a more personal and approachable way. This event has helped with a bond for these departments with the children, as well as with each other.

Chalk in the Park

Starting in 2014, ACE added to its events this colorful festival of chalk in Chico's Downtown Plaza. At-risk children from the area are invited to come to Downtown Chico for breakfast and the chance to express their artistic flair through bright chalk drawings.

This event has been canceled by the city in some years, due to drought.

About us

Here to help the community of Chico.

Daniel Lutge founded Active Community Endowment, Inc. after seeing a need in his community for mentoring young adults in at-risk situations. A.C.E. brings together these youths, and the police and fire-fighters in the area. The events establish a dialogue between these groups, which also helps police and fire work better together in stressfull on-the-job events.
